A Yorkshire farmer’s daughter, Alison qualified from Liverpool University in 1989. She worked in practice for several years before pursuing a career with Hills Pet Nutrition and MARS, discovering the customer experience passion that her award-winning company, Onswitch, is renowned for today. Established in 2001, Onswitch promotes customer-centred practice so pets, horses and livestock receive better care; providing research, marketing, CPD and business consultancy with an effective, innovative, straight-talking and client-led approach.

Alison is Honorary Associate Professor at Nottingham University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. She is published widely, regularly speaks at key international veterinary congresses and events, and was given the AVA’s Veterinary Business Thought Leader award in 2019.

Christoffer Precht has worked at Bain & Company for more than 18 years. He is head of Bain’s Nordic Private Equity advisory business. Chris acts as lead across a broad spectrum of retail health engagements; working on transactions and value creation programs across vet, dental, physiotherapy, IVF etc. Chris has extensive veterinary experience, led 30+ transactions and multiple large value creation programs aimed at driving professionalization and generating organic growth.

Christian Kolthoff is heading a large Danish project on Mental health and work happiness in the veterinary sector and have conducted a series of studies on work happiness, why vets and nurses leaves, what the best clinics do on work happiness etc.

Christian is a vet and holds an Executive MBA in change management as well as being a certified facilitator. He is responsible for running two veterinary networks in Denmark & Norway of 45 clinics and has part ownership in five of these clinics. As a consultant he has been working with more than 130 practices. His major interesse is the combination of veterinary business & work happiness.

Christian will be sharing findings from his studies on why vets and nurses leave Danish practices as well as highlights from some of his other studies on work happiness and leadership. He will also share a model that he is successfully using as a tool to discuss work happiness in practice workshops.

Camilla Church graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2015. She spent the years since her graduation working in Perthshire, in a mixed, and a small animal and equine practice. When her practice was taken over by a corporate, it meant that investment was no longer possible so she set up Perth Equine Vets. They opened in January 2021, and they now have a team of herself, another equine vet and a registered vet nurse.

Rachel, an Edinburgh graduate, has always sought diversity in her career. Alongside working in practice she co ran an academic travel company for many years. When COVID bought the collapse of the travel industry it left Rachel with a lot of spare time, a lot of knowledge in business and a will to create something new. She knew if she was going to return to practice life 5 days a week it had to be under her own roof; Bringing total ownership, total responsibility and occasionally, total pain in the arse moments. Who knew how much admin owning a practice would bring and how many spreadsheets were needed; and who knew how lonely it would be at times.

Edhen Vets is centered around caring for pets and people with good personal service and 5 key values underpinning everything they do. The past 10 months has been a steep learning curve, but Rachel has quickly identified the benefits of being at the head of a start up. A combination of quick decision making, calculated risk taking, tailoring services to locals and creating the ideal environment for staff has led to a turnover far exceeding predictions and a very happy work place.

"An inspired concept. Never before have I been to an event collecting the who’s-who in veterinary in one place (a miracle in itself) – creating a one-stop shop of new ideas, strategies and developments. I came away feeling invigorated about the direction of the industry, with plenty of fresh approaches to apply internally."

- Strategic Implementation Manager, IVC Evidensia

"A great mix of people – some corporates I had never met, and would never get a chance to meet; others I had only spoken to via email. I sat opposite a key contact last night – someone I have tried to email for months; it's fantastic - I've had more time with him over the past day than I've ever had with him; we have created a relationship. That is worth millions. That meeting alone was worth the price."
