OpenRoom is based in London and was founded in 2004 with a launch business forum in India. The company initially specialised in oil and gas but has expanded its portfolio to include events covering retail, healthcare (dental, pharmacy, optical/audio) and veterinary.
At the heart of everything we do are our company values. We care about our clients and about building events that deliver value to all our delegates. Our business depends on nurturing strong relationships with customers, business partners and suppliers. Everyone in our team is committed to delivering results and high quality events for our delegates. We foster an entrepreneurial spirit, not just seeking feedback but acting on it. We're proud of what we do; always learning, always improving.
Jerome graduated from the Univeristy of York with a degree in Business Management. He joined OpenRoom in 2017 as part of the sales team, left to go travelling for 7 months, but was then lured back, and moved into operations. After helping steer the company through the dark Covid days, he now heads up the operations department and manages all relationships with our hotel venues, making sure the events run smoothly and delegates are well fed and entertained. He's also the office handy man, a badge of honour that he won't relinquish.
Annabel has been with OpenRoom since 2008, and before that worked for two major London advertising agencies. As OpenRoom's first employee, she's had almost every role in the company bar Managing Director, but eventually found her niche taking care of the company's marketing and creative output. With an eagle eye for detail, she keeps a check on pantone colours, fonts and the OpenRoom team's design disasters ;-)
Sandra graduated from the University of Kent with a degree in Event Design & Production. Sandra joined Open Room in 2019, as Marketing Executive, bringing her creative flair and boundless knowledge of design software to the marketing department - her nickname is Queen Adobe. Outside work, Sandra is decorating and setting the scene for lavish weddings & events.
Dominic joined the business during the pandemic after graduating from Newcastle University. He helped launch the company’s virtual and hybrid products and is now part of the sales team, looking after ReFuel clients around the world. In his spare time, he designs OpenRoom’s branded sportswear and takes the Chairman on lunchtime walks.
Joss built his experience in events and sales through a number of different channels since university. His previous job as Pop-ups/Events Manager at a London-based flower delivery firm really cemented his love for being client-facing. Residing in Clapham, you will often find Joss relaxing to the sultry sounds of his favourite deathcore and progressive nu-metal bands.
Lucy is a recent graduate from the University of Sydney where she studied Spanish and French. She is part of the buyer recruitment team and works to keep our clients involved and up to date on the events. As the token non-Aussie Aussie, she likes nothing better than drinking stubbies and slapping another shrimp on the barbie.
Bella graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2019 with a degree in Psychology, which included a mental health placement in Sri Lanka. Post-university, she worked as a Digital Media Intern at a ski academy in Tignes, France. Bella joined as an Account Manager in 2021 and works closely with Fiona and Lucy, as well as the wonderful Sales Team. Outside of work, Bella is a member of The HAC as an army reservist.
After achieving a Distinction Honours at the Oxford Media & Business School, Daisy began her working life in estate agency, where she honed her fabulous Excel skills and sunny, client-facing demeanour. Fortunatley, she decided estate agency wasn't for her, and joined the Sales Team as an Executive working on our Vet events. She's perfectly open about her love for Harry Styles and spends as much time as she can on the ski slopes.
Christopher graduated from Bristol University with a degree in French studies. After a short stint working for a London Christmas tree company, he joined the buyer recruitment team as Account Executive, working across the Eyecare and ReFuel Forums. He's our resident linguist, and outside work, he can be found walking his dog Tommy in Richmond Park or catching up with his friends over some drinks. We've also heard he has a grade 8 in cello and are working on persuading him to be the entertainment at our next event.
After finishing his degree in psychology from Bristol University, Matt embarked on a number of ventures from his home in Southern Spain, including yacht maintenance, freelance writing, selling wine and covid testing kits (though not together), recording a podcast, and taking a UX/UI design course. Finding no traction with these, he moved to London and joined OpenRoom as Sales Executive. Matt is honing his sales skills bringing in new and exciting companies to our ever growing ReFuel Forums. Outside of the office, we've heard he's an exceptional football player and are looking forward to seeing him play with our new Closer Still friends!
Sophie is our resident Northerner and has joined the sales team as their Events Assistant. A natural organiser, she keeps them on their toes, and deadlines firmly in place. When she’s not bossing the team around, demanding sales or invoices, you can find her trying out the bars around Clapham or Facetiming her three cats.
Izzy comes to us from Monica Vinader, where she spent the last two years with the Sales Team. Joining the buyer recruitment team as an Account Executive working across all the portfolios, she brings with her a wealth of sales experience, plenty of positivity and a love of all things competitive! At home, Izzy enjoys taking down that high energy a notch or two in the evening with a glass of wine or a bath or both.
Lucia is a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh. After a four-year Geography degree, learning how to colour in maps, she moved to Mexico where she worked, travelled and ate lots (and lots) of tacos. On returning to London, she joined OpenRoom and the buyer recruitment team. She works across all our events helping to bring in new buyers, and is handy with a bit of Spanish. Outside work, Lu can be found catching up with friends over new food spots around the city (though now she avoids the tacos).
Flo takes her responsibilities as Head of Security very seriously, monitoring everyone who comes and gos, and barking loudly when she's not sure. When she's not securing the premises, she rampages with Humphrey chasing tennis balls.
