The Role of Mobile Commerce Today and Tomorrow: Mobile commerce is transforming mobility and convenience retailing (think Scan&Go, Click&Collect etc.) and changing the way we find, access and pay for services. Like it or not, this is changing the expectations of our customers. Nick Allen of What & How Energy leads this fascinating exploration of what the future holds for fuel retailers.

A digital DNA is what characterises Jan-Harmen Akkerman as an entrepreneur. Over 20 years ago, he founded internet agency ICIT. And in 2005, he started a business in large-scale sales of household electronics via the internet. This grew into a substantial Ecommerce player in the Netherlands and Belgium. More than over a decade later, in 2016, he started operating a petrol station, entirely by accident.
A petrol station where he put his digital background, data, customer recognition, loyalty and, above all, changing mobility at the heart of his business. In recent years, under the name TanQyou, this retail chain has grown into a player with 35 of its own locations in the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the technology behind TanQyou has outpaced its own retail brand and the underlying platform has been sold to a separate company. With the creation of MoveYou in 2020, it delivers a SaaS Energy & Mobility suite where it helps firetof and energy companies transform in the rapidly digitising world.
Moveyou is a cloud platform where an integrated approach to fuel, mobility and charging come together. And has now within three years more than 30 fuel chains in Western Europe using its technology.
Jan-Harmen is currently engaged in the realisation of a network of physical mobility Hubs and the construction of the first fully digital transferium in the Netherlands in a public-private partnership with his retail chain, governments and public transport service providers.
Jan-Harmen excites and inspires in terms of the rapidly changing market and themes such as digitalisation, and the transition to a broader energy and mobility proposition.
