Another successful C-Store Forum
On June 13th and 14th, the stunning Tivoli Victoria Hotel, Algarve played host to the 3rd consecutive C-Store Forum – and with over 100 retailers and suppliers gathered for one and half days of networking and business meetings, it proved to be the best yet. With its new streamlined program, the forum provided one of the most time-efficient ways to do business – and in the words of one retailer, Frank Frayling of James Hall & Co, “The whole idea was a breath of fresh air in terms of how to effectively meet suppliers and make new network connections - first rate.”
This year’s event opened with a short overview from David Shrimpton, Editor Independent Retail News – the event’s media partner – who spoke about changes in the sector. David Smith of Global Futures and Foresight, followed with a detailed look into online developments and their impact on the convenience retailing market. David’s insights into the new meaning of convenience and community via the world of social media provoked fierce debate, which spilled out to the opening dinner.
The distinctive Meetings Program occupied the second day – boasting nearly 600 pre-matched appointments between buyer and supplier. Amongst the retailers there were some of the biggest names in the business, including Costcutter, James Hall & Co, Landmark Wholesale, Nisa, Bestway, Musgrave Retail Partners, The Co-operative Group, United Wholesale, who mass a total of 10,000 stores between them. The success of the one-to-one meetings was summed up in the words of Phill Hood from Red Bull: “The simplicity of the event, coupled with its relaxed location, allowed for productive and open dialogue, which can be hard to come by when constrained by time pressures in the office.”
The event ended on a high at the farewell dinner with a master class in mind reading from Philip Escoffey.
C-Store Forum will be back in 2013, but in the meantime, if you would like information on PetroForum UK & Ireland 2012 please email info@openroomevents.com

The conference had very high take-home value for us. Your ability to gather so many key buyers from all over Africa in one location for rapid fire meetings is a great benefit to our company.
