Big Players back PetroForum Africa
As the first PetroForum for the African continent gathers pace, OpenRoom Events are pleased to announce that Martin Gafinowitz, President of Gilbarco Veeder-Root will be opening the event. He will be joined by Rabiu Umar, Head of Retail from Oando Plc who will chair the conference.
In 2006, Gafinowitz was appointed President of both Gilbarco and the Veeder-Root Company, taking on global responsibility for one of the world’s leading suppliers of integrated fuel control, site management and support services for petroleum marketers and commercial fuelling enterprises worldwide.
PetroForum Africa’s Conference Chairman, Rabiu Umar, has been Head of Retail at Oando Marketing since March 2010. Prior to that he was responsible for Oando’s sales in Northern Nigeria, and led the non-fuel revenue team, pioneering new offerings on the forecourt as well as taking on the task of repositioning the Oando brand as a market leader.
Emma Faure, Director at OpenRoom Events says, “As this is our first PetroForum in Africa, it was important for us to get some high profile names on board to boost the credibility of the event, and both Gafinowitz and Umar more than fit the bill. We’re thrilled that Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Oando recognise the importance of this emerging market.”
Over 150 delegates have signed up to PetroForum Africa: some 40 oil companies and fuel retailers from across the region will hold pre-arranged appointments with 60 international equipment and solution suppliers over two-and-a-half days. The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency, Johannesburg on 1-3 March 2011.
I certainly believe I got value both in terms of identifying new suppliers and building new friendships in the industry. First Class
