Focusing on convenience GS1 UK takes Silver Partnership at C-Store Forum 2015
We are all witness to a marked-change in consumer behaviour in the convenience sector, coupled with a myriad of legislative and operational demands. As consumer expectations change, retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers are being challenged to respond. This shift in consumer expectation requires a new approach to working across the entire supply chain.
This makes the need for timely, accurate and standards-based product data ever-greater. GS1 UK’s drive for collaborative standards across the entire Convenience community is what will enable an efficient and profitable operating model, that’s fit for the long-term.
By enabling the unique identification and smooth exchange of products and information – from source to consumers – GS1 standards and solutions create the foundation for successful Convenience operations.
“Most producers, suppliers and retailers are already using GS1 unique identification numbers to increase the efficiency of their supply chains and accurately manage stock levels. There are currently over 47,000 UK convenience stores, ranging from big name brands to family-owned corner shops - we are ready to support them to make the most of this growing market. Which is why we have taken up the Silver Partnership at C-Store Forum UK 2015”, says Martin Janes, Head of Foodservice & Convenience at GS1 UK.
At C-Store Forum, GS1 will be discussing the next stage in Global Data Synchronisation. Allowing convenience retailers to store and manage a single ‘true’ version of a product’s information and then share it across every producer, supplier and retailer.
The result? A joined-up, consistent and trusted source of all product data, from allergen labelling to order information.
This forms the foundation for industry to realise substantial cost savings through:
- Increased supply chain efficiencies
- Improved product availability
- Better customer experience
- Ongoing compliance with the Food Information to Consumer regulations
GS1 UK will lead an open workshop at the event discussing how improving data quality and understanding how it can be shared efficiently between trading partners represents a big opportunity for industry.
C-Store Forum UK 2015 takes place from 8-9 June, and will bring together the top independent retail groups, symbol groups and forecourt retailers for 2 days of networking and one-to-one meetings.
